doood. i want to start a pokemon thread. okay, so my favorites are oddish, gyarados, mew, mewtwo, psyduck, raichu, and mantyke. LOOK HOW CUTE THAT IS I recently started up the TCG again but am desperate to find people to battle with... ;-;. Part of me wants to start a pokemon club in my college but I would be pretty much mortified if no one joined... ;-; but it could be cool. We could read the manga, watch the anime, play the video games and the tcg and discuss the wonder world of pokemon. Idk, I think it is awesome but I am also a huge dork and dorks are minority at my college. >>; Ummm, so yeah. I am at the elite four area in Pokemon Diamond. It is frustrating because like I was pretty much gliding through the game, but then all of a sudden these level 70 monsters popped out of nowhere. Wtf man. >_< So yeah, wee pokemon. :3

There's an issue with the Gold/Silver era in which the power required to keep track of the time and day wears out the battery within a few years. Because of that, my save data got deleted every time I played.
Recently, however, we prised the back of the case off and replaced the battery. Amazingly, our DIY cartridge modification has actually worked, so now I'm playing Gold again.
I completed Pearl a while ago and now wish I'd waited for Platinum or whatever it's called, so I had a different game to my brothers. I did contemplate selling it on eBay and buying the newer one, but I don't think I have the time or energy to put into another run-through of it. Besides, I spent ages perfecting my contest pokémon. I'm not going through that again (particularly since I realised afterwards that there's a basic set of moves which makes it easy to win).
I think I remember a really old RP we had somewhere in which you were playing an Oddish!
Also, me? Grow up? Never!

D: Which is taking me forever to tackle. *shakes fist* Also am impressssed that you were able to figure out the problem w/ your Gold and fix it. *-* Oddish~ I lovvve Oddish. And Gyarados. And Mew. And Mewtwo. But, yeah... I remember that roleplay. *-* Maybe we should start a roleplay/a pokemon roleplay again... I'm just so lazy... and unmotivated, I have to get back into the swing of forums, I suppose. Um, I'm still ten years old and I am proudddd.

Ha ha, it was total chance. I was reading about Gold on Wikipedia for some unrelated reason, then did a double-take when I saw it mention something about save game issues. Then it became a matter of me entering mad scientist mode and ordering my minions to fetch me an appropriate battery.
I got past Gold's Elite Four on my, er, fifth try or thereabouts. I was trying to do it cunningly, matching types and whatnot, but I only got anywhere when I gave up and used my old method of blazing through with my one pokémon who's actually any good. I think I'm still stuck in Ruby, as I have been for over a year, because they're all rubbish, arrgh.
Also, agreed. Aging past ten isn't worth the responsibility and maturity required.
